Zuma Trial
Sorry about the lack of blogs for a while, I have been out of town, but know I'm back with a vengeance.
When Zuma goes on trial in August he is likely to say that he cannot have a fair trial because he has been tried by the media already, if that fails he is going to say that the trial has dragged on to long.
What he won't say is that he has been in the media through his own doing by making a fool of himself, when he gets in front of a camera.
Could you imagine the Prime-Minister of Great Britain, or the President of the USA, jumping about on a stage in front of the press and thousands of people singing songs about (pass me my machine gun.)
The press are going to be there at every opportunity to record the next stupid thing he does, they make money out of his antics.
If he does get a permanent stay of prosecution, will every prisoner waiting trial in South Africa who has had to wait for a long period to go to trial or has had a lot of publicity, be granted a permanent stay of prosecution?
What are the benchmarks how long must you be waiting prosecution? how many times must you get into the press and for what reasons before you are granted a stay of prosecution?
If I was in jail or waiting trial, I would be asking my attorney to find out.
In South Africa we are supposed to be equal before the law.
In fact if he gets a stay of prosecution because he has had to wait to long for his trial, all other waiting trail prisoners in South Africa, who have been waiting trial for the same period, should automatically be released by default.
The reason Zuma's trial date has taken so long is his own doing, going to every court in the land trying to get the case thrown out.
